A Brand New Month has begun, And many more memories have been made as we went to open houses, Course Counselings, Got back Our O level results and deciding where we want to go.

We Have Worked & We have Played... We have celebrated many Joyous Occasions together as a Class and now as we go into February, I think that we will miss all the familiar faces that we met almost everyday last year.

1.What must I do after receiving my posting results?

For JCs / MI

Students who are offered a course in a JC / MI must report to the JC / MI on the date stipulated in the JAE-IS. Generally this will be the next working day following the release of the posting results.

For Poly / ITE

Students who have been offered a course in a Poly or ITE should expect to receive an enrolment package / posting letter by post after the official release of the JAE posting results. Students are required to enrol at the Poly or ITE on the date stated in the package / letter.

2.How can I appeal to be transferred to another course or institution?

Students may appeal for a transfer to another course or institution only after the release of the JAE posting results.

Students who wish to appeal for a transfer to a particular JC / MI should approach the Principal of the JC / MI directly. The outcome of any such application will be provided by the JC / MI directly.

Students who wish to appeal for a transfer to a course in a Poly should approach the institution directly within 2 working days after the official release of the posting results.

You may also go to the polytechnic's joint portal for appeal to Polys(http://www.polytechnic.edu.sg/jaeappeal/). The outcome of any such application will be provided by the Poly directly.

You should not rely on the appeal process to enter an institution or course of your choice. Appeals are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the institution you have approached, and may be granted only when compelling reasons are presented and vacancies are available.

= People u will meet in your new school...(The Slacker)

Well i decided to make a guide about people u will meet in your new sch be it Poly or JC...
So here goes...

In Life, there many people that u will meet. School is not an exception, as u transfer to a new school, u will meet all sorts of characters. So this guide will help u identify 12 different types of people. Today, we meet one of the most common which can be found in each group. A Slacker A.K.A. The Lazy One.

=.= A Slacker? U may ask, well, yea... In every group there will always be this person who "just so happen to be unable to make it to any gathering or project." They tend to be friendly most of the time except when its their turn to contribute something to the project. They will find a thousand and one excuses, so that they can get out of the project and yet they are still be able to take some credit in the project...

How to Deal : It's Frustrating, especially if you're running out of time and just desperately need someone to help u accomplish your project(and the only one free is the slacker). Well, when u form a group make sure that it doesn't consist of a slacker but, if it does, then try to tell the person nicely that u need them to help out(try to get your other team members to help you confront this person or they may think its just u who feels this way). If they still don't help out, u may have to tell your lecturer/teacher, that he/she didn't do anything... If that doesn't work, u know whom your not going to add into your group the next time... But, Remember When u are telling the slacker to help out, be considerate and patient (as they may really b busy) and find out the circumstances before u start yelling at him/her...

Poly or Jc ? Now thats the question...
Some of u are still struggling with whether to go jc or poly. Well i hope i can help out...

Jc(Positive/Negative Points)

(+) = Many different jcs scattered all over Singapore. (To name a few, SAJC,CJC, YJC, AJC)
(+) = Very Academic as u will nid to "prepare" for A levels if u lyk Secondary school u wont have any problems...
(+/-) = 1st year & 2nd year in Jc is lyk takin sec 3 & sec 4 over again... So u may get the sense of Deja vu again...(A level = O level + Major headaches?)
(+/-) = u nid to wear school uniform, go CCA & take exams every now & then... Perfect for those who are used to sceondary school life & dun want to break away from the trend...
(+) = U get to see old frens hu are also goin Jc

Poly(Positive/Negative Points)

(+) = 5 Different Polys (Ngee Ann, Singapore, Temasek, Republic & Nanayang Poly)
(+) = A more hands on Approach for those who prefer the more pratical side...
(+/-) = School Starts Later.Different from Secondary school after every 4-7 weeks there will be a 2 week holiday. There is also a need to attend tutorials, extra lessons & etc;
(+/-) = No uniforms(oops i nid to expand my wadrobe?)
(+/-) =U also get to see old frens hu are going poly...

Myths (BUSTED)

Higher chance of getting into university when u go Jc? Not True, as if u work hard in poly (top 10-15%) u may go into university & just because u get into Jc doesnt mean u get good A level Results & can go to Uni.
Poly Life is more slack compared to Jc? Not True, Poly life can be just as difficult as Jc with exams every now & then...
Smart People only go Jc? Not True Again, Just because they are smart doesnt mean they lean towards 1 side of the spectrum as they can choose to go either Jc or Poly

Important Facts to also Note :

New University is coming out in 2013 to cater to poly students...
Jc Starts in 2nd February & Poly may start in April...
Results of Posting(to new school) out on 30th January...
